Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], September 4 : After Congress confirmed alliance talks with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the Haryana Assembly Polls, BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli on Wednesday slammed both parties and said that both have a similar model of governance that revolves around loot and corruption.
"They have signed agreements earlier as well. Both have a similar model of governance which revolves around loot and corruption. Congress has always worked to weaken democracy. Our national leadership will decide on announcing candidates soon. Anyone can contest elections. We have always respected our players and we will continue to do so," Badoli said.
Earlier today, confirming talks with the Aam Aadmi Party for the Haryana Assembly elections, AICC in-charge of Haryana Deepak Babaria said that apart from the AAP, INDIA bloc partners, including the Communist Party of India (CPIM) and the Samajwadi Party have also approached them to fight the assembly elections together in the state.
"Currently we are speaking to the Aam Aadmi Party. One or two other parties have also approached, we will respond in a day or two. CPI (M) and the Samajwadi Party approached us. They are expecting a very small number. They want to make their presence felt in the state. We are also looking for a seat that is convenient for us and them," Babaria stated.
According to sources, Rahul Gandhi has sought the opinion of Haryana Congress leaders over the possibility of an alliance with AAP for the forthcoming Haryana Assembly elections during the party's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting held in the national capital on Monday.
Arvind Kejriwal had earlier stated that his party would contest the Haryana Assembly polls in all 90 seats on its own strength. The elections in Haryana will be held in a single phase on October 5, and the counting of votes will happen on October 8.
