Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 13 : Bharat Rashtra Samiti MLA Harish Rao on Friday accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of 'causing the collapse' of law and order in the state.
Harish Rao criticism came after Congress leader Arekaupudi Gandhi's followers allegedly attacked BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy's residence.
At a media briefing, Rao said, "Revanth Reddy is solely responsible for the breakdown of law and order in Telangana. It's disgraceful that after contributing to this collapse, he now speaks about Hyderabad and Telangana's brand image.Who provided security for MLA Gandhi to carry out attacks? Wasn't it Revanth Reddy and the DGP? Why were the attacks not stopped yesterday?"
Rao alleged that the attack on Kaushik Reddy was 'orchestrated' by CM Reddy.
"When our MLA was attacked under police protection, where was Revanth's concern for law and order? Why didn't the DGP act? DGP, why didn't you take action? This wasn't just Gandhi's attack--it was orchestrated by Revanth Reddy.Today, we were placed under house arrest. Why wasn't Gandhi placed under house arrest yesterday? Revanth Reddy and the DGP are responsible for yesterday's attack. After causing the damage, they are now trying to cover it up," Rao said.
"Is there any law and order left in the state? Ten days have passed, and no cases have been filed against those who attacked us in Khammam.
When we went to file a complaint, we were arrested, dragged around for hours, and taken into the forests of Mahbubnagar," Reddy added.
Kaushik Reddy was put under house arrest after war of words escalated between him and Gandhi, commenting on that Rao said, "We exercised restraint to protect Telangana's reputation and maintain the dignity of the police. Since yesterday evening, our party's MLAs, MLCs, leaders, and workers have been placed under house arrest across the state. Police are making threatening phone calls, intimidating people into reporting to police stations."
"Is this oppression acceptable? Your house arrests only strengthen our resolve. The situation in the state is worse than during the Emergency. If those in power have crooked minds, how can things be better at the lower levels? Revanth Reddy continues to use vulgar, offensive language, while lecturing YouTube channels on morality. If you lead by example, others will follow," Rao said.
"Everyone knows how poorly Revanth Reddy treated the police in the past and the derogatory comments he made about them. I urge the DGP and the police not to blindly follow Revanth Reddy but to act with discretion and follow the law," he added.
