Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 30 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President, KT Rama Rao (KTR), on Friday urged Congress Party's National President, Mallikarjun Kharge, to ensure that Telangana does not become another "Bulldozer Raj" under the Congress government's rule, a release from KTR's office said.
According to the release, he expressed grave concern over the actions of the Congress-led government in Telangana, accusing it of violating the law and rendering the poor homeless by demolishing their homes without due legal process.
KTR reminded Kharge of his own statements, where he had condemned the demolition of homes and the rendering of families homeless in other states as both inhumane and unjust.
He also questioned whether Kharge supports the Telangana Congress government's actions in Telangana state, where similar atrocities are now being committed.
In a recent post on social media platform X, KTR brought to Kharge's attention the demolition of 75 houses belonging to the poor in Mahbubnagar town, which took place at 3 AM without any prior notice. He highlighted that out of these 75 destitute families, 25 are physically disabled. KTR emphasized that law without due process is not law, but a modern-day civilizational abomination.
"Dear Kharge Ji, as you said, demolishing someone's home and rendering their family homeless is both inhumane and unjust. This is exactly what is happening in Telangana with utter contempt for law & judiciary. Below is a video of Mahbubnagar town where 75 houses of poor have been demolished at 3 am without any notices. Out of these destitute people, 25 families are also physically disabled. Law without due process is not law. It is a modern-day civilisational abomination. Please advice the Congress Govt in Telangana to not become yet another Bulldozer Raj in the country" he said on X.
He questioned the Congress leadership, asking how they can justify demolishing the homes of poor families, many of whom have been residing in them for 20 to 40 years, without issuing any notices.
KTR urged Kharge to advise the Congress government in Telangana not to let the state become another Bulldozer Raj, the release said.
Earlier, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his government for allegedly demolishing the houses of 75 poor families in Mahabubnagar district.
The BRS claimed that municipal authorities carried out the demolitions in the middle of the night without warning, leaving the families, including many with children, in distress.
In a post on X, the BRS alleged, "Bulldozer reigns in Telangana. Revanth Sarkar is demolishing the nest of the poor. Hydra-style demolitions by municipal authorities in Palamuru. Municipal authorities demolished the houses of 75 poor people in Adarsha Nagar near Christian Palli in Mahbub Nagar District Center at two o'clock in the middle of the night without any notice. Officials suddenly brought bulldozers between two and three o'clock in the night and demolished the walls of the houses from the outside while the poor were sleeping."
The BRS also alleged that officials had previously started demolishing illegal constructions without adhering to government instructions."Officials came with the police and demolished the houses. In the past, they started demolishing illegal constructions without listening to what the government had told them to do. As the demolitions are going on in the early hours of the morning, vigils are being held from night to keep the children out of the house and make them sleep. Many of the victims are shedding tears...cursing why they are attacking them, leaving the elders who have encroached on the government lands," the party said.
"With this, the demolition of the poor in the town has become a topic of discussion. It is noteworthy that the authorities did not caste the houses built by big men and party leaders and their followers," the BRS added.
