Cabinet Approves new Amaravati Railway line connectivity with an expenditure of 2,245 crore

New Delhi [India], October 24 : Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday held a virtual press meeting from Rail Bhawan in New Delhi today, joined by top officials including Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan, and Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Ram Mohan Naidu via video conference.
The meeting aimed to discuss key railway projects and initiatives in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on safety drills and modernization of the railway network.
The Hon'ble Minister informed that the new rail line project traverses through NTR Vijayawada and Guntur districts of Andhra Pradesh and Khammam district of Telangana. The new line will provide direct rail connectivity from Amaravati to Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata. Construction of a new line between Errupalem and Namburu via Amaravati covering 57 kms with an estimated expenditure of Rs.2,245 cr to be completed in 4 years. The project will generate direct employment for about 19 lakh man-days of work.
According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, the route offers better connectivity between Southern India and Central and Northern India. accessibility to holy sites including the Undavalli caverns, Amaralingeswara Swamy Temple, Amaravati Stupa, and the statue of Dhyana Buddha. improves connectivity to the ports of Kakinada, Krishnapatnam, and Machilipatnam. A 3.2-kilometre bridge that spans the Krishna River will be built. Being an energy-efficient and environmentally beneficial form of transportation, the railways will reduce CO2 emissions (6 Crore Kg), which is equal to planting 25 lakh trees, and help the nation reach its climate goals while also lowering its logistics costs.
To discuss the recently sanctioned Amaravati railway line, Divisional Railway Manager Narendra A. Patil of the Vijayawada Division met with Hon. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu Garu on Thursday at the Secretariat in Velagapudi.DRM said that it was extremely happy to receive cabinet clearance and that this important development would help the State of Andhra Pradesh's economy flourish and improve connectivity.
Following the Hon'ble Railway Minister's video conference, P.E. Edwin, ADRM, Infrastructure, and Srinivasa Rao Konda, ADRM, Operations, chaired the press conference and spoke to the media at the Divisional Conference Hall, DRM office Vijayawada. The virtual conference was attended by Md. Ali Khan, DCM, P. Sathya Swarup, Sr.DOM, G, Ch Gowtham Krishna, Sr.DEN, North, and other officials and staff.
Addressing the Media, P.E. Edwin, ADRM, Infrastructure termed the new line approval by cabinet as the landmark and historic moment for the state of Andhra Pradesh. ADRM stated that with this new Railway Line Amaravati shall have wide connectivity with the North South East And Western parts of the country. He thanked Ashwini Vaishnav ji, Hon'ble Railway Minister and Nara Chandrababu Naidu garu, Hon'ble Chief Minister of A.P for envisaging this most promising project and giving a boost to infrastructure and economic growth in the region. He highlighted that our workforce is technically competent and determined to complete this novel project using the latest technological advancements within the targeted timeframe.
