Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India] August 4 : In a recent interaction with the youth of the Sardar Patel Good Governance CM Fellowship Program, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the exceptional opportunity for youth to utilize their knowledge and skills for societal welfare.
Eighteen young individuals selected under the fellowship shared their work experiences from various state government departments. The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of applying their academic knowledge for the common good and the government's benefit in future policy-making and program implementation.
Launched on October 31 last year, the fellowship aims to integrate innovative ideas from talented youth into administrative systems, a vision promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative, announced on Sardar Patel's birth anniversary, upholds the tradition of good governance for the welfare of the common man, the poor, and the deprived.
Out of the applications received, 18 youths were selected for a one-year fellowship based on merit. After completing initial training at Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), they are now engaged in various state government departments working on public welfare projects, studies, data analysis, and implementing innovations.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Ahmedabad, as an academic partner and advisor, provides training services to these fellows. The Chief Minister motivated the youths by stating that Gujarat offers an excellent environment for their work. He assured them that funding is not an issue for implementing plans or new initiatives, encouraging them to present the best ideas and suggestions.
The Chief Minister also proposed quarterly review meetings with the fellows to provide guidance and gather their suggestions for the government.
Chief Advisor Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, Chief Secretary Rajkumar, and Additional Chief Secretaries Pankaj Joshi and Manojkumar Das discussed facilitating the youths' work in their respective departments and addressing any issues.
The meeting, conducted by the Chief Minister's Secretary Avantika Singh, included senior officials such as General Administration Department Principal Secretary M. Shahid and SPIPA Deputy Director General Vijay Kharadi.
