CM Manik Saha inaugurates Jagannath Rath Yatra Mela in Tripura

Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 6 : Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Saha on Sunday inaugurated the historic Jagannath Rath Yatra Mela in the Melaghar town of Sipahijala district of Tripura.
The event will span for nine days and will conclude on July 14, 2024.
This event is jointly organized by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs and the Melaghar Municipal Corporation.
A major highlight of this year's mela is the grand Rath (chariot) prepared for Lord Jagannath, which stands at an impressive height of 58 feet. The procession of the Rath is a central attraction, drawing devotees and visitors from across the region.
The inaugural ceremony was marked by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Bindu Debnath, MLA of Dhanpur, and Tafajjal Hussain, MLA of Boxnagar.
The festival commenced with the arrival of dignitaries followed by a traditional welcome involving the presentation of flower bouquets and the traditional Risha to all guests.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by other notable figures, officially inaugurated the festival with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
This was followed by a series of speeches from prominent figures, including the Chief Executive Officer of Melaghar Municipal Council, Anup Deb, MLA Kishor Barman of Nalchar.
The Jagannath Rath Yatra Mela is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, featuring a blend of religious devotion, cultural performances, and local crafts. The festival provides an opportunity for locals and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of Tripura.
