Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], September 25 : Leaders of the Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh staged 'Thali Bajao' protest against the state government on Wednesday, claiming that the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh failed to fulfil the promises made during elections.
Congress Chief YS Sharmila, lashing out at the state government, said, "So today the Congress party has resorted to an agitation called the 'Thali Bajao', demanding why CM Chandrababu Naidu has not fulfilled the super six promises in his manifesto."
"This 'Thali Bajao' is intended to awaken Chandrababu Naidu's government, which is in alliance with the BJP and the Janasena. It has been a hundred days since CM Naidu has been in power and nothing has been done by him for the good of the people here," YS Sharmila said.
Speaking on the devastation caused by the recent floods in Andhra Pradesh, she said, "Seven lakh acres were subject to the floods recently. Yet the BJP has not given a paisa for Andhra Pradesh...They are sitting in power because of the support given by the 25 MPs from Andhra. We demand CM Chandrababu Naidu why he is so aloof, why he is not fulfilling any of his promises..."
Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila on Friday said they have written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's allegation that the previous YSRCP government had used substandard ingredients and animal fat in making Tirupati laddoo, a consecrated sweet.
She also stated that the issue is related to the sentiments and faith of crores of people across the country.
"Yesterday, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu told that the earlier government was involved in the adulteration of prasadam. This relates to the sentiment, emotions and faith of crores of people, not only in Andhra Pradesh but also all over the country and even internationally," Sharmila told reporters.
