Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 3 : As the BJP-JDS 10-day Padytra got underway from Bengaluru on Saturday, BJP leaders attacked CM Siddaramiah for his alleged involvement in the MUDA scam. Bengaluru South BJP MP Tejasvi Surya said that the CM and his family have nowhere to hide.
He also demanded Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation to pave the way for a more transparent and capable government in Karnataka.
"The CM and his family have nowhere to hide. The allegations are very serious. It is time for him to resign and allow for a more competent, transparent government to come to Karnataka. It's a lame-duck government, they have no money to do any developmental activities and whatever money is left in the coffers after these mindless populist policies of theirs are being swindled away by such corruption scandal," Surya told ANI.
"We hope that this Padayatra will be the beginning of the end of the Congress government in Karnataka," Surya added.
Surya also claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family were direct beneficiaries of an executive decision that illegally and unethically benefited them, involving crores of rupees.
"The kind of allegations that have surfaced against the Chief Minister and his family in this MUDA scam are very serious. Till today, no serious effort has been made on the part of the government to rebut the claims, rebut these allegations and present before the people of Karnataka what the factual position is according to them. The CM and his family are direct beneficiaries of an executive decision that has benefitted them illegally, unethically, put Crores of Rupees. The facts are so simple that it is an open-and-shut case," Surya said.
BJP MLA CN Ashwathnarayan criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged involvement in MUDA and Valmiki Corporation scams, accusing the CM and his family of misusing power for personal gain.
"CM and his family misused the power for their gains. The governor's office has given the notice as per the law and was seeking a reply. Probably the govt and the CM are helpless, it indicates that he is involved in the scam as he has no answers. We want to expose the Congress govt," Ashwathnarayan told ANI.
BJP MP Captain Brijesh Chowta accused CM Siddaramaiah's family of benefiting from the MUDA scam and demanded his resignation.
"In the history of Karnataka, the most shameless & corrupt govt is probably the current Congress govt led by Siddaramaiah... In the MUDA scam, CM Siddaramaiah's family is the direct beneficiary and he doesn't even bother to put himself into an inquiry hence the BJP is demanding his resignation. This is the beginning of the end of Siddaramaiah. Our Padyatara begins today and we are quite confident that when the Padyatara reaches Mysuru, the Congress govt will be thrown out of Karnataka," Chowta told ANI.
BJP MP Captain Brijesh Chowta also claimed, "All is not well in Congress, there are many aspirants for the CM's chair and they all know that Siddaramaiah is going to resign in a few days or be forced to resign. DK Shivakumar is probably trying to establish that he is the front-runner for the CM's face," Chowta told ANI.
Earlier today, the BJP and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) opposition alliance in Karnataka kicked off their 10-day 'Mysore Chalo' padayatra from Kengeri in Bengaluru to Mysore over alleged MUDA and Valmiki Corporation scams by the Siddaramaiah government.
