CM Yogi inaugurates, lays foundation of development projects worth Rs 2,009 crore in Jhansi

Jhansi/Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 29 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that although the youth of Bundelkhand have been migrating in search of employment, the scenario is set to change with the development of the Defence Corridor and the industrial area around Bundelkhand Expressway.
People from around the world will come to work in Jhansi and Bundelkhand, said CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday. He also mentioned that the Bundelkhand region will soon be established as a new hub of jobs and employment.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 100 development projects worth Rs 2,009 crore in Jhansi on the occasion of National Sports Day.
During the event, CM Yogi said, "The region that is developing has the Bundelkhand Expressway on one side and the Kanpur-Jhansi National Highway on the other side, and in between, a new airport will be built that will elevate the development of Jhansi. Bundelkhand will be the first region to have two airports, one in Jhansi and another in Chitrakoot. The Pharma Park in Lalitpur is also gaining new momentum.”
CM Yogi also honored Olympic hockey players and inaugurated a hockey match. Before this, CM Yogi unveiled the statue of Major Dhyan Chand and also inaugurated and inspected the Hockey Museum.
Chief Minister Yogi stated that Bundelkhand is achieving new heights of development. He mentioned that when he first came here after becoming Chief Minister, the local representatives mentioned the lack of connectivity and water issues.
"Today, it's pleasing to note that the Jal Jeevan Mission is effectively implementing the plan for tap water connections in every household. In a few days, every home will have RO water, making the dream of Bundelkhand a reality,” he said.
The Chief Minister mentioned that all irrigation projects in Bundelkhand have been completed. He said that the land of Jhansi associated with Rani Laxmi Bai, is now also recognised for the Defence Corridor. Yogi further said that as part of the Defence Manufacturing Corridor, a unit of Bharat Dynamics is being established in Jhansi. One node is in Jhansi, and another is in Chitrakoot.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister informed that a new program for industrial development in Bundelkhand, covering an area of 38,000 acres similar to Greater Noida, has been introduced. Under this program, Rs 6,000 crore have already been released out of the total Rs 8,000 crore.
CM Yogi, while saluting Major Dhyanchand on his birthday, said that this great wizard of hockey, who won three gold medals in 1928, 1932 and 1936, was not only an excellent player, but also had immense respect for Mother India. He said that this moment fills us with pride and reminds us that the land of Bundelkhand is the land of such valiant individuals.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated the country's highest sports award to Major Dhyan Chand Ji. The Uttar Pradesh government is establishing the state's first sports university in Meerut in his name," he added.
CM Yogi stated that today, along with various programs, the inauguration and foundation laying of development projects are taking place in Jhansi. He said that for the first time in the state, the government has established Eklavya Sports Fund. The government is also giving fellowship to 125 national and international players for 2023-24, Rs 32 lakh 35 thousand have been transferred to their account through DBT.
The Chief Minister further said, "Today I got an opportunity to see two-three big projects closely. I saw the library built in Jhansi under the Smart City Mission and I suggest that every student must visit that library once. This in itself gives a new dimension to the success of the Smart City Mission. Major Dhyan Chand's museum has also been built here. I urge every youth and sportsperson to understand the essence of dedication towards Major Dhyan Chand through this museum, which serves as his physical representation."
The Chief Minister said that the UP government aims to involve the former international players as coaches of different coaching teams in some capacity and connect them with the state government. He emphasized the need to enhance the training of budding sportsperson of the state. He said that the state government is fully committed to working diligently in promoting sports and sportsperson.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Legislative Council, Manvendra Singh, State Minister for MSME Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, State Minister for Jal Shakti and Flood Control Swatantra Dev Singh, Jhansi-Lalitpur MP Anurag Sharma, State Minister for Labor and Employment Manohar Lal Mannu Kori, Mayor of Jhansi Bihari Lal Arya, Chairman of Jhansi District Panchayat Pawan Kumar Gautam, MLAs Rajeev Singh Parichha, Ravi Sharma, Jawahar Lal Rajput, Rama Niranjan and Babulal Tiwari, Major Dhyanchand's son Ashok Kumar and other dignitaries were present.
On this occasion, CM Yogi inaugurated a hockey competition at the Major Dhyanchand Stadium in Jhansi. He flagged off the competition by getting the introduction of each and every player on the field. While boosting the enthusiasm of the hockey players, he also extended his best wishes for their future endeavors. He engaged in conversations with young children as well. One of the most interesting moments was when CM Yogi himself took a hockey stick and dribbled the ball. He even managed to make a powerful shot with the stick. Later, he also took a group photo with the hockey teams.
CM Yogi inaugurated the newly constructed multi-storey modern library building in the Shiksha Bhawan at Kachahri Chowk. From there, he reached Rani Laxmi Bai Park, where he unveiled the newly constructed 25-feet tall statue of Major Dhyan Chand. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the country's first hockey museum prepared under the Smart City in the park. Following these events, CM Yogi Adityanath reached the Dhyanchand Stadium, where he honored former Olympic hockey players.
