Amroha (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 23 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday hit out at Congress, alleging it of planning to implement the 'Sharia law' in the country and redistribute people's property.
The Uttar Pradesh CM, while addressing a public rally in Amroha, claimed that Congress has in its election manifesto expressed its intention to implement the 'Sharia law' in the country, posing a threat to the Constitution.
"Congress has written in its manifesto about bringing personal laws for a particular community. Through this move, Congress aims to impose Sharia law, bringing a Taliban-style rule to India. This clearly indicates that Congress and the I.N.D.I alliance pose a threat to the Constitution crafted by Baba Saheb," he said.
Referring to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's speech in 2006 to contend he had said that minorities have the first claim on the country's resources, the UP CM alleged that the Congress is planning to seize people's property
"The Congress and I.N.D.I alliance members betrayed the country by presenting a deceitful manifesto. While they promise to eradicate poverty, they are secretly planning to seize your property, as well as the jewelry of your daughters and mothers," he said.
The chief minister claimed that terrorism has been finished in India during the tenure of the Modi government.
"There was an atmosphere of fear and terror in the country 10 years ago, people were afraid. After 2014, terrorism was controlled and by 2019, Modi ji did such a thing that the root of terrorism Jammu Kashmir's Article 370 was abolished. Today terrorism has been destroyed in India," he said.
In his address at an election rally in Baghpat, Yogi Adityanath said that the irony of the 'Gareebi Hatao' slogan coined by Indira Gandhi being echoed by her grandson like a "repetitive parrot".
"When the people voted them out of power, they suddenly remembered their pledge to eradicate poverty. Both Congress and Samajwadi Party have a history of land grabbing and prioritizing their own interests," he added.
Adityanath while seeking votes for NDA candidate Rajkumar Sangwan (of RLD) said the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) do dynastic politics.
"The SP gave all tickets to its own family members," he added.
Notably, the SP has fielded candidate from Yadav family on the Mainpuri, Azamgarh, Badaun, Ferozabad and Kannauj Lok Sabha seats.
Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Jayant Chaudhury was also present on this occasion.
Amroha and Baghpat will go to polls in the second phase on April 26.
