New Delhi [India], October 9 : Coming down heavily on Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the party of engaging in "politics of hatred" and desperation to regain power. He claimed that the Congress is sowing seeds of hatred in people's minds every day.
PM Modi also referenced Mahatma Gandhi's alleged desire to dismantle the Congress party due to its "vile intentions" soon after India gained independence.
"Congress is doing politics of hatred. Congress, a party that ruled the country for decades, is now desperate to gain back the power. Every day, they sow seeds of hatred into people's minds. Soon after independence, Mahatma Gandhi sensed the vile intentions of Congress, and that's why he wanted to dismantle the party," PM Modi said while addressing an event in Maharashtra virtually.
He called upon the people of Maharashtra to unite and vote for the BJP-Mahayuti government in the upcoming assembly elections to ensure the development of the state and the country.
"Congress is bent on destroying the country. We all have to be aware and cautious. I am sure that the people of Maharashtra will give a befitting reply to all these forces bent on destroying the society... The people of Maharashtra have to unite and vote for the BJP-Mahayuti government so that the development of the state and the country can be ensured," PM Modi said.
"Congress has always followed the formula of divide and gain power. Congress has repeatedly proved that it is an irresponsible party. It is still creating new narratives to divide the country. Congress keeps bringing formulas to divide the society. Congress's formula is clear: keep scaring Muslims, intimidate them, convert them into vote bank and strengthen the vote bank," he added.
Continuing his attack on Congress, PM Modi said that the party was neither interested in development nor in legacy while the BJP is building a bright future by drawing inspiration from the past.
"The world trusts a country only when its youth is full of confidence. Today, the confidence of young India is the new story of India's future. Today the big countries of the world are looking at India as a big center of human resources. Congress was neither interested in development nor in legacy. There is development as well as legacy in our government. We are building a bright future by drawing inspiration from our rich past," he said.
"Congress fights elections on completely communal and casteist lines. Dividing the Hindu society and making it their winning formula is the basis of Congress's politics. Congress is suppressing the Indian tradition of 'Sarvajan Hitaye - Sarvajan Sukhaye', it is suppressing the Sanatan tradition," the Prime Minister added.
Reiterating that India has become the fifth-largest economy in the world, PM Modi said that the economic prosperity of India is bringing various new opportunities.
"The entire world is watching India. India has become the fifth-largest economy in the world. The future of the global economy is connected with India. The economic prosperity of India is bringing many new opportunities...Maharashtra has a priceless heritage. There are many beautiful natural sites and spiritual centres in Maharashtra. Lakhs and Crores of the economy can develop around them...Congress never cared about development and heritage...With the inauguration of the new terminal building at Shirdi airport, the devotees of Sai Baba will get huge benefits," he said.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of various development projects in Maharashtra worth over Rs 7600 crore virtually on Wednesday.
He laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, new integrated terminal building at Shirdi airport and medical colleges.
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde who was also present during the event addressed the people virtually and said, "I welcome Prime Minister Modi on behalf of the people of Maharashtra... I congratulate Prime Minister Modi for the victory of the BJP in the Haryana Assembly elections. After the exit poll trends came out, the Congress party was distributing jalebis... Today Prime Minister Modi is laying the foundation stone for the upgradation of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, new integrated terminal building at Shirdi airport and medical colleges... Prime Minister Modi is continuously working with the mantra of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vishwas'."
