Congress' Manish Tewari gives adjournment notice in Lok Sabha urging discussion on 'border situation, huge trade deficit with China'

New Delhi [India], August 5 : Congress MP Manish Tewari gave an adjournment notice in Lok Sabha to discuss the "border situation and the huge trade deficit with China" in the House on Monday.
In the notice, Tewari asked the house to suspend Zero Hour and relevant rules and other business of the day to discuss the matter.
"Since 2019, there have been ongoing border clashes between India and China, with reports of Chinese troops blocking access to patrolling points in Eastern Ladakh. Recent reports suggests that China has completed construction of a 400-metre bridge which gives Chinese forces the ability to speedily move troops between the North and South bank of the Pangong Lake. Additionally, in 2023-24, India's trade deficit with China exceeded USD 85 billion, with exports at USD 16.65 billion and imports at USD 101.75 billion," Tewari mentioned in the notice dated August 4.
The Congress MP further urged the central government to inform the House about the border situation and the trade deficit, and to provide details on efforts to resolve the border dispute and protect India's integrity against Chinese aggressions.
As per the schedule in Lok Sabha today, Union Minister of Law and Justice of India Arjun Ram Meghwal will introduce the Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024. This bill will enable the reservation of seats in accordance with article 332 of the Constitution for effective democratic participation of members of Scheduled Tribes and to provide for the readjustment of seats in the Legislative Assembly of the state of Goa.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh is expected to move a motion in Lok Sabha for the election of two members to the National Jute Board. Also, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will move a motion for election of two members to the Employees' State Insurance Corporation.
Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jayant Chaudhary, Jitin Prasada, Pankaj Chaudhary, Ram Nath Thakur, Shobha Karandlaje, Kirtivardhan Singh, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Sukanta Majumdar and Harsh Malhotra will lay papers on the table in Lok Sabha for their respective ministries.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri is set to introduce the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill, 2024 in Rajya Sabha on Monday to amend the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Act,1948.
Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi will lay on the table the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on Information Systems Audit of selected Central Public Sector Enterprises - Union Government (Commercial) - Ministry of Petroleum and Natual Gas no. 2 of 2024 (Compliance Audit Observations).
As per the schedule, Union Ministers Shripad Yesso Naik, L Murugan, Satish Chandra Dubey, Sanjay Seth, Tokhan Sahu and Murlidhar Mohol will also lay papers on the table in Rajya Sabha for their respective ministries.
Further, the discussions on the working of ministries including agriculture and farmers welfare, new and renewable energy and cooperation will also be held today.
TMC MP Derek O'Brian is expected to raise the discussion on the working of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The discussion on the working of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare will be continuing today which was raised by Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala on August 1.
DMK MP Tiruchi Siva is expected to raise the discussion on the working of the Ministry of Cooperation.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced on July 22 and as per the schedule, will conclude on August 12.
