New Delhi [India], August 2 : Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi on Friday demanded resignation from the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for not taking moral responsibility for train accidents and called him the "derailment minister."
"He (Ashwini Vaishnaw) is 'derailment minister', how many trains have been derailed in the last two years? In the last two months, 4 goods trains have been derailed. He should have resigned taking moral responsibility for about 300 people's deaths in the Balasore incident," Gogoi told ANI.
On Thursday, the Union Railway Minister responded to opposition criticisms and said that the government doesn't make reels rather it works hard.
He said, "We are not the people who make reels, we do hard work unlike you people who make reels to show off."
As Vaishnaw faced interruptions from opposition members, he emphasized that the Railway is the lifeline of the country and a crucial organisation upon which the nation's economy depends. He urged the parliament to depoliticize the Railways and focus on its improvement for the benefit of the country.
In his speech, Vaishnaw appealed to all the members of parliament to not politicise the railway and said that this institution is the lifeline of India.
