Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 11 : Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has taken a jibe at the Congress party over Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's caste census remark saying the Congress is now playing the game of caste.
Mishra made the remark while addressing a press conference in the state capital Bhopal on Wednesday.
"Congress is now playing the game of caste, this is the mentality of the Congress party. Rahul Gandhi was talking about the backward people but he himself is not able to tell about which caste he belongs to. Even former CM of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath does not speak about his caste. But they want the census of the rest of the people and that too only the Hindus, the Congress wants caste division within the Hindus," Mishra said.
Addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district, Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday laid thrust on caste census and said it would be among the top priorities of the government if Congress voted to power in the forthcoming assembly polls.
"What rights should be given to Adivasis today, what part should be given to the OBC and ST categories, this is the question in front of the country and that is why we are talking about caste census, we will get it done," Gandhi said.
Meanwhile, when asked about former CM Nath attack on CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan's post of sitting on the bank of Ganga river, the home minister said that CM Chouhan had performed the Parikrama of the Narmada, visited Ganga and also visited several seers. Kamal Nath connects everything with politics, this is his specialty because the problem with him is that he is not able to travel to other places. Now expecting Kamal Nath to go to the Ganga river is not possible.
Notably, Nath on Wednesday wrote on X, "The Chief Minister has gone with the camera team in search of peace, while his government has played with the religious sentiments of people by imposing GST on the 'Ganga Jal'."
"I hope that the few good leaders and supporters left in BJP will also support our protest against imposing 'GST on Ganga Jal'. The BJP first made politics a business, now it is considering Ganga Jal as a business and taxing it too. Imposing tax on 'Ganga Jal' is the spiritual corruption of BJP," Nath further wrote.
Earlier on Tuesday, CM Chouhan shared a picture of him on X in which he was seen sitting on a rock at the bank of Ganga river and making notes.
