Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge calls for meeting of newly appointed general secretaries, state in-charges

New Delhi [India], December 27 : Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has called for a meeting of the newly appointed party's general secretaries and state in-charges tomorrow in Maharashtra's Nagpur.
In a major reshuffle in the party, the Congress on Saturday relieved Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from the post of AICC in-charge of Uttar Pradesh and appointed Avinash Pandey.
With this, Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain has been appointed as in charge of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's Office.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has also appointed party leader Pranav Jha as AICC Secretary, attached to the Congress President's Office, in charge of Communications.
In another significant development, Sachin Pilot has been appointed Congress General Secretary in charge of Chhattisgarh Congress while Ramesh Chennithala was appointed as AICC in charge of Maharashtra.
Randeep Singh Surjewala has been appointed as general secretary of Karnataka Congress, a commune issued by party national General Secretary KC Venugopal said.
Bhawar Jitendra Singh has been given an additional charge of Madhya Pradesh. Milind Deora and Vijay Inder Singla were appointed as joint treasurers of the party.
The development came following Congress's loss in the Hindi heartland (Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh). The assembly poll results came as a big jolt for the party, which is gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, earlier today, Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with Andhra Pradesh Congress leaders to discuss the strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the national capital.
Party General Secretary KC Venugopal was also present at the meeting. Several leaders from the state also attended the meeting.
Earlier on Tuesday, Congress President and party leader Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with Bihar Congress leaders and Punjab leaders here to discuss the strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Bihar Congress chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh and newly appointed state in-charge Mohan Prakash, along with leaders like Ranjeet Ranjan, and Shakeel Ahmed, were among those present in the meeting.
After the meeting with Bihar Congress leaders, party chief Kharge took to X, and said that every worker of his party is ready to reach out to the people and live up to the aspirations of the people of Bihar for progress, prosperity and peace of the state.
"The Grand Alliance government in Bihar is working firmly as per the expectations of the people of Bihar. We are committed to social justice. For the progress, prosperity and peace of Bihar, every Congress worker is ready to reach out to the people and live up to the aspirations of the people of Bihar," he said.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be held next year and are likely to be between the Modi government's NDA alliance and the INDIA bloc.
