Nizamabad (Telangana) [India], September 14 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha on Thursday said the Congress’ promises of schemes for the people of Telangana are already being implemented by the state government led by her party.
Kavitha's attack came ahead of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting scheduled for September 16-17 in Hyderabad.
Alleging that Congress has lost grass grassroots connection with the people, Kavitha said that she doesn't think Congress will serve any purpose for the people of Telangana or that of the whole country.
"They are not thinking for the people. Thinking from the grassroots of what actually people are facing. They are not doing that. I don't think they will serve any purpose to the people of the state or of the nation," Kavitha told ANI.
"Today we (Telangana) stand at number one in every possible index in the country from per capita income to water harvesting, welfare schemes, and irrigation projects...We attract a lot of industries to Hyderabad...We have continuously seen political activities of the Congress party in the state...They are declaring many schemes...They are trying to give the same things which we have already achieved," she added.
On Wednesday also Kavitha attacked Congress by accusing it of making "undeliverable" promises to the Telengana people. She also asked Congress' top leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to express their views on the Uniform Civil Code and women's reservation bill.
"They(Congress) are promising a pension of Rs 4,000 per month to vulnerable sections of the society. In Telengana, we have been giving 2,000 rupees as a pension for the last ten years. None of the Congress-ruled states are providing pensions anywhere close to this. Just because of the election, they are promising things that they can't deliver," Kavitha told ANI on Wednesday.
She had also attacked Rahul Gandhi saying that the latter is an outdated leader who "can't defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi". She also said that the name change of her party from TRS to BRS had been done to "defeat Modi".
