Uttara Kannada (Karnataka) [India], April 28 : Referring to the Rameshwaram cafe blast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attacked Congress and said that the party for the "sake of votes" is taking support of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) in Wayanad.
The Congress for the sake of votes is taking support of banned PFI -- the anti-national organisation that supported terrorism.
The Rameshwaram cafe blast took place at 1 pm on March 1 and the police had also found a suspect from the CCTV footage, keeping a bag inside the cafe. The police probe so far indicated that an IED device with a timer was used to carry out the explosion.
Addressing a public meeting in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada, PM Modi said, the track record of Congress is of shedding tears on the killing of terrorists.
"In Bengaluru after they (Congress) assumed power, a bomb blast took place in a Cafe and what statement they made 'gas ka cylinder fata hai, arey! aapka dimaag fata hai ki gas ka cylinder fata hai'... and those who are named and have linkages with banned organisation PFI, in Wayanad, help are being taken from these organizations. The way Congress has taken the help of PFI for the vote bank encourages them. The track record of Congress is of shedding tears on the killing of terrorists, you all must remember when such an incident took place in Delhi, a leader of Congress was shedding tears that why a terrorist was killed," PM Modi said in Sirsi.
Earlier, the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) extended unconditional support to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Lok Sabha elections.
SDPI is widely considered to be the political outfit of the banned terrorist organisation Popular Front of India (PFI). The Union Home Ministry had in September 2022 declared the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its affiliates an 'Unlawful Association'.
The Prime Minister further accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of insulting India's Rajas and Maharajas but remaining silent on the atrocities committed by Nawabs, Nizams, Sultans and Badshahs for the sake of appeasement politics.
"The entire country including Karnataka has a history where Nawab, Sultans and Badshah have committed heinous crimes and tyranny on common people, these Sultans have destructed & looted our temples and pilgrimages, but 'Shehzada' has given them the clean chit and declared our Rajas and Maharajas as tyrants. This attempt of Congress to divide the nation is dangerous," he added.
PM Modi further slammed the Congress party for rejecting an invitation to the Ayodhya Ram Temple inauguration ceremony earlier in January this year.
"On one side there are those in hunger of vote bank rejected the invitation to the Ram temple and on the other side, there is an Ansari family, Iqbal Ansari whose entire family fought the case against Ram Temple for three generations but when the Supreme Court's verdict came, he accepted it. The trustees of Ram Temple when invited the Ansari, he attended the 'Pran Pratistha," he said.
Polling was conducted on Friday in 14 parliamentary constituencies of Karnataka during the second phase of the Lok Sabha election. The remaining seats will go to the polls on May 7. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
