Congress wants to crush patriotism in country through casteism: PM Modi in Haryana
Oct 01, 2024
Palwal (Haryana) [India], October 1 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit out at Congress over its caste politics and said that the party "wants to crush patriotism" of the country by propagating divisions on lines of caste and religion.
Addressing a public rally in Haryana's Palwal on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said that Congress did not solve the problems of the country but established its own family.
"Congress kept every issue important for the country entangled... Congress did not allow Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya. Congress did not allow the Constitution to be fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. They deprived our sisters of reservation in Parliament and Assembly. Congress kept our Muslim sisters entangled in the problem of triple talaq. Congress did not solve the problems of the country and its citizens but instead used all its energy to establish its own family. I ask the entire country today. Congress has committed so many sins till today, and it still dreams of forming the government. The BJP supporters are patriots. They devise plans to mislead the patriotic people. Congress wants to crush patriotism from this country by propagating casteism, confronting one community against another," PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister said that he is grateful for the blessings and support of the Haryana CM and asked the voters of Jammu and Kashmir to cast their vote in the last phase of the elections.
"You all have come here in large numbers to give us your blessings...Today's gathering shows the result of the Haryana election...We are grateful for your blessings and support. The election campaign is going on in Haryana. But today the last phase of voting is taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. A very large number of people are participating in the festival of democracy there. I would like to ask all the voters of Jammu and Kashmir to cast their vote," he added.
The Prime Minister attacked Congress for making false promises and said that Congress never works hard.
"Congress's formula is neither work nor let others work. Congress's politics is limited to false promises, while BJP's politics is focused on hard work and showing results. Congress never works hard. Congress thought that 10 years had passed, and the people of Haryana would serve them power on a platter. Congress had the same misconception in Madhya Pradesh...par Madhya Pradesh ke logo ne Congress ko din mai tara dikha diya," he said.
PM Modi raised the issue of infighting within the Congress and said that those who are miffed with the party are Dalits, backwards and deprived community.
"The people here are also seeing the conflict that is going on within the Congress in Haryana. The angriest with Congress are from the Dalit, backwards and deprived community. The Dalit community has also decided that they will not become a pawn to enhance the politics of the father and son. Congress has only one agenda - appeasement for votes, maximum appeasement. Today Congress is saying that it will end reservations for Dalits and backward classes. This is what they have done in Karnataka. As soon as the Congress government was formed there, they snatched the reservation of Dalits and backward classes and distributed it among their vote bank," he said.
The Prime Minister alleged that Congress "is the most deceitful and dishonest party in the country."
"You can see the condition of Himachal Pradesh in the neighbourhood. They lied to the people of Himachal Pradesh during elections and now, after forming the government, people are asking Congress what happened to your promises and Congress is asking the people, who are you?" he said.
PM Modi said that the whole of Haryana has to take a pledge--all those who love India will remain united and people will vote unitedly for the country.
"Today the whole of Haryana has to take a pledge - all those who love India will remain united, we are one and we will vote unitedly for the country. We will unite and vote for the future of our children. We will unite and vote for the safety of our daughters. We will unite and vote for jobs without any expense slips. We will unite and vote for new investments, and new jobs in Haryana. We will unite and vote for good roads and better irrigation," he added.
He further said that Haryana has a track record that whichever government is in power at the centre, the same government is formed in Haryana also.
"You formed the BJP government in Delhi for the third time, and now you people have decided to form the BJP government here in Haryana also for the third time," he said.
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that the British used to say 'divide and rule' but Congress says 'lie and rule'.
"Congress has only one principle. The British used to say 'divide and rule,' but Congress says 'lie and rule.I have been going among the people, meeting them continuously for the last 6 months. I enter the house and find a board of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana installed there... I find a water tap, a toilet... The government has also provided a gas connection, there is electricity in that house... Treatment is also being done under the Ayushman Yojana," the Haryana CM said.
He further asserted that the BJP government has changed the lives of the poor.
"We have changed the lives of the poor who were left to fend for themselves by the previous governments... All this has happened in 10 years, under the BJP government," he said.
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with counting set to take place on October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the single largest party, securing 40 seats, while Congress won 30 seats.
