Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 12 : Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai has said that Congress party worked hard in Haryana polls and has complained to Election Comission about "discrepancies" on about 20 seats.
The Congress lost the Haryana polls even as the party was expecting a huge victory.
"This election was being contested by the common people. This was an election of the common public. Congress party worked diligently and worked hard. All I would like to say is that Congress did work hard. What did we lack and what issues we faced there are all being reviewed. Meeting was also held...I think it will be brought out after a review meeting," he said.
"Congress has identified a few seats, I think 20 such seats have been identified where discrepancies have taken place and Election results have been affected. Details have been provided to the Election Commission," he added.
Congress leader Pawan Khera on Saturday said that the party has sent to the Election Commission of India a list of 20 seats in which candidates have submitted written and verbal complaints over Electronic Voting Machines during the counting of votes in the recently held Haryana Assembly elections.
"We have sent a list of 20 seats to the Election Commission regarding which our candidates have submitted written and verbal complaints of 99 per cent battery charge. This issue was raised on the day of counting...This is a strange coincidence that the machines that displayed 99 per cent battery charge were the ones on which Congress was mostly made to lose. The machines with 60-70 per cent battery charge are the ones on which Congress won. Why did this happen?" Khera alleged.
The 20 assembly constituencies of Haryana on which Congress has alleged that irregularities took place are Narnaul, Karnal, Dabwali, Rewari, Hodal, Kalka, Panipat City, Indri, Badkhal, Faridabad NIT, Nalwa, Rania, Pataudi (SC), Palwal, Ballabhgarh, Barwala, Uchana Kalan, Gharaunda, Kosli, and Badshahpur.
