Telangana Congress Chief Reddy led a delegation to the state Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar urging him to provide security for September 17 as party will be holding a public meeting at Tukkuguda.
Addressing the media, TPCC Chief Reddy said, "The CWC meetings will be held at Taj Krishna on 16th and 17th September. Many National leaders will converge at Hyderabad for the meeting. There will also be a public meeting being organized on September 17 at Tukkuguda. Lakhs of people from across the state will participate in the public meeting. We have requested the DGP to provide security in this regard. BJP and BRS have conspired not to give us the parade ground for the meeting. The DGP has said that he will look into it."
The newly constituted Congress Working Committee (CWC) will hold its first meeting in poll-bound Telangana's Hyderabad on September 16, under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The Telangana Assembly polls are scheduled to be held this year. The state is set to witness triangular contest among the BJP, the ruling BRS and the Congress.
The Telangana election will serve as a litmus test for the BJP-led NDA and the INDIA alliance before the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
