Contest is between ideologies of Congress, BJP: Congress' candidate from Dausa Assembly constituency
Oct 24, 2024
Dausa (Rajasthan) [India], October 24 : Congress candidate from the Dausa Assembly constituency in Rajasthan, Deen Dayal Bairwa, has termed the upcoming by-election the fight between the ideology of his party and that of the BJP.
He slammed the 10-month-long BJP government in the state saying that it ended all the public welfare schemes of the previous Congress government in the state and that it did not do anything in the public interest.
"This election is an election of ideology. The BJP candidate is contesting the election with the BJP ideology and I am contesting the election with the ideology of the Congress," Bairwa told reporters after his candidature was announced by the Congress.
The by-election in the constituency was necessitated after its MLA from Congress Harish Chandra Meena won the 2024 Lok Sabha election from the Tonk-Sawai Madhopur constituency.
Bairwa blamed the BJP government for the water crisis in the constituency, adding that addressing it will be one of his top priorities.
"BJP government did not do any work in 10 months which was in the interest of the public and they gradually stopped all the schemes made during the Congress government. The BJP government gradually slowed down the Isarda project, due to which the common people are not getting water. When Murari Lal Meena (Congress MP from Dausa) was the minister, he got this project sanctioned. My priority will be to complete the project as soon as possible and make water available to the people of Dosa," he said.
Bairwa was announced in the Congress' list of candidates for seven seats in Rajashtan by-polls.
Other names on the list are Amit Ola from Jhunjhunu, Aryaan Zubair from Ramgarh, Kastoor Chand Meena from Deoli-Uniara, Ratan Choudhary from Khinswar, Reshma Meena from Salumber (ST), and Mahesh Roat from Chorasi (ST).
Congress Rajasthan Chief Govind Dotasra posted on X and extended his wishes to the candidates.
He said, "Hearty congratulations to all the Congress candidates and best wishes for victory in advance. I have full faith that in the by-elections, the public will give strength to public issues by making the Congress candidates victorious with a huge margin and will teach a lesson to the failed BJP government."
The voting for Rajasthan by-polls will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will take place on November 23.
The bypolls on 48 constituencies are spread over 15 states - Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
Earlier on October 15, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced bypolls for 48 Assembly constituencies and two Parliamentary seats that will occur in two phases alongside the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections.
