Court issues non-bailable warrant against Singer Sapna Chaudhary over non-appearance

New Delhi [India], August 13 : The Delhi Tis Hazari court on Tuesday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Singer Sapna Chaudhary over her non-appearance in a cheating case.
Sapna was charge-sheeted by the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Delhi police. A complaint was filed by Pawan Chawla against her. An FIR was lodged against her in 2021.
Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Rashmi Gupta issued a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Singer Sapna Chaudhary after she failed to appear before the court.
The CJM said, "A last day of hearing (LDOH) exemption was sought on behalf of the accused. Even today, the accused has failed to appear before the court despite calls made to her."
Sapna Chaudhary has been put up for the appearance of the accused/ further proceedings for October 25, 2024.
"Let NBW be issued against the accused returnable for the next day of hearing (NDOH)," the court ordered on Tuesday.
Advocate Randhir Lal Sharma and complainant Pawan Chawla appeared through video conferencing.
It is alleged that the accused had obtained money from the complainants on various pretexts and various business activities. Thereafter the accused and a family member misappropriated the said money and used it for their family purposes.
On May 28, 2024, the Court took cognizance of the offence Under Section 420 (Cheating), and Section 406 (Criminal Breach of Trust) IPC.
