New Delhi [India], September 22 : Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja supported former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's 'Janta Adalat' held on Sunday at Jantar Mantar, stating that Kejriwal has every right to go out and speak the truth.
Speaking to ANI, Raja said, "Kejriwal is the leader of AAP. He was the CM of Delhi. He was arrested based on an ED investigation. He got bail, and now he is out, with a new CM sworn in. As a political leader, he has the right to go to the people and speak the truth. Kejriwal has repeatedly said that the Union government is misusing the ED, CBI, and other central agencies to intimidate Opposition leaders."
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal said that he resigned because he had no desire for the CM's chair and had joined politics for the country's sake. He asserted that he is not a politician and that the allegations against him have deeply affected him.
Addressing 'Janta ki Adalat' at Jantar Mantar, Kejriwal said, "I resigned because I did not come into politics to commit corruption. I have no greed for the CM's chair. I did not enter politics to earn money. I used to work in Income Tax, and if I wanted to, I could have earned crores. I came into politics for the country, for Bharat Mata, to change the political landscape of this country."
"These politicians don't care about allegations; they have thick skin. I am not a politician. I do care when the BJP calls me a thief or corrupt. Today, I am heartbroken, and that is why I resigned," Kejriwal added.
Kejriwal also emphasised that he has only 'earned' respect and doesn't even own a house in Delhi. "I will vacate the CM's bungalow in a few days. I don't even have a house. In ten years, I have earned only love, and as a result, many people are offering me a place to stay. After Shraadh is over, at the start of Navratri, I will leave the bungalow and stay at the home of one of you," he said.
Launching a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kejriwal stated, "We were running the government honestly. We made electricity and water free, provided free healthcare, and improved education. However, Modi ji realised that to defeat us, he would need to attack our integrity. He then conspired to portray Kejriwal, Sisodia, and AAP as corrupt and put every leader in jail."
Kejriwal also asked the audience at 'Janata Darbar' whether they believed he was honest or not.
