New Delhi [India], October 22 : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the Sarai Kale Khan flyover extension on Sunday. Through this three-lane half-flyover, commuters can travel between Southeast Delhi and ITO without being interrupted by traffic signals, said officials.
CM Kejriwal said that the flyover would greatly benefit the people of Delhi as it will reduce the traffic load on the T junction.
Built at the cost of Rs 50 crore, the Sarai Kale Khan flyover has a length of 545 meters. The extension has three lanes, ramps, stilt sections, and U-turn loops.
Its upper ramp is about 90 meters long, while its lower ramp is 95 metres long. Its stilt section is approximately 360 meters long.
"This will help in reducing the traffic jams on the T junction. It's a 620-meter-long flyover. Rs 66 crores were sanctioned for this project. Since we have formed a government in Delhi, we have saved money on every project. Similarly, in this project, we were sanctioned Rs 66 crore, but we completed it for Rs 50 crore. This will provide convenience to those who travel from ITO to Ashram," CM Kejriwal said while addressing a gathering after the inauguration.
According to officials, the flyover will play a significant role in reducing congestion at the Sarai Khan inter-state bus terminal and the T-junction.
It is expected that the new flyover will make the journey between South East Delhi, Sarai Kale Khan, ITO, IP, Pragati Maidan, and routes towards East Delhi smooth and free from congestion.
