Delhi Court acquits former Delhi Women & Child Minister in rape case

New Delhi [India], September 12 : The Rouse Avenue court on Wednesday acquitted a former Delhi Minister in a rape and prevention of corruption case of 2016.
He was the minister of women and children, social welfare and the SC-ST Department.
Special judge Kaveri Baweja acquitted Sandeep Kumar. Advocate Sanjay Gupta along with Rajkamal Arya appeared for Sandeep Kumar.
The Court had framed charges against Sandeep Kumar raping a woman after giving her some sedative, and under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act and 66 IT Act.
An FIR was lodged in 2016.
It was alleged that he called the victim at his residence in connection with the ration card-related work and raped her. The act was allegedly filmed and circulated.
Delhi police had registered an FIR on September 3, 2016, on the basis of the statement of the prosecutrix.
She had stated that around 11 months ago she went to the house of the accused Sandeep, as she wanted to get a BPL card.
She was allegedly raped by the accused after giving her sedative in the cold drink.
