Delhi Court remands Deepak Boxer to judicial custody in extortion case of Nangloi

New Delhi [India], October 18 : Delhi's Patiala House remanded Deepak Boxer to judicial custody after two days of police custody in an extortion case in the Nangloi area. He was arrested in connection with a firing incident in a sweet shop in the Nangloi area to allegedly extort money.
Judicial Magistrate (First class) Vaibhav Sharma remanded Deepak Pahal alias Boxer in judicial custody. He was produced before the court after two days of police custody. Advocate Virender Mual and Abhishek Thakur appeared for Deepak Boxer.
Delhi police had earlier sought a two-day custody remand of Deepak Boxer to unearth the offence and supply of illegal weapons in Delhi NCR and to identify the source of weapons used in the offence.
Other accused Jatin, Akash, Hariom and Ankesh Lakra were produced from Judicial custody on Wednesday. Their judicial custody has been extended for 13 days. They have to be produced on October 29 before the court.
On September 29, the Special cell nabbed two sharpshooters of the Deepak Boxer-Gogi gang in connection with the firing incident.
The special cell had apprehended two sharpshooters of Deepak alias Boxer/Ankesh Lakra/Gogi crime syndicate namely Hari Om alias Lalla and Jatin. Both the accused persons committed recent gunfire incidents at a sweet shop in the area of Nangloi, Delhi to extort money in the name of jailed gangsters Deepak Boxer/ Ankesh Lakra of Gogi Gang.
Delhi police had recovered one semi-automatic pistol with 5 live cartridges, one country-made pistol with 4 live cartridges and a motorcycle used in the crime.
On September 28, Pratiksha Godara DCP Special Cell had said that two assailants on a black Hero Splendor motorcycle fired gunshots at the counter and employee of a sweet shop in Nangloi, and threatened to extort money from the shop owner on the directions of jailed gangsters.
In this regard, a case was registered vide FIR under sections 109(1)/3(5) BNS and 25/27 Arms Act at PS Nangloi, Delhi.
The assailants also threw extortion slips featuring coloured photographs of deceased gangsters Jitender @ Gogi and Kuldeep Fajja on one side and names of jailed gangsters Deepak alias Boxer/ Ankesh Lakra and Vishal on the other side, police said.
Later, as per technical as well as human inputs, the suspects were identified as Hari Om, Despite conducting raids in Delhi and surrounding districts, the suspects could not be located. Informers were activated to track their whereabouts.
During interrogation, it was found that the accused Jatin is associated with gangster Ankesh Lakra and both hail from the same village Mundka. He is also an aide of gangster Deepak alias Boxer, linked to the Gogi Gang. Jatin received instructions from Ankesh Lakra (lodged in Tihar jail) and Vishal (younger brother of gangster Gaurav Saharanpur, settled abroad) to fire at the sweet shop in Nangloi after acquiring illegal weapons from the sources of Ankesh Lakra and Deepak Boxer.
It is alleged that the recovered weapons were provided by the associates of Ankesh Lakra at the pre-appointed place in the Sonepat area. Both Ankesh Lakra and Deepak Boxer presently heading the Gogi Gang and were also involved in the escape of gangster Kuldeep Fazza from police custody in 2021 from Delhi. Jatin persuaded Hari Om alias Lalla to participate in the shooting to earn easy money. Following these instructions, both accused fired at Roshan Sweet Corner in Nangloi, police said.
