Delhi HC calls for a report on plea of BCD saying office flooded during rain

New Delhi [India], July 16 : The Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered a joint inspection and called for a report on the plea of the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD).
BCD said that its office in the Sirifort Institutional area flooded with water and garbage during the rain in June due to an uncleaned drain.
Justice Sanjeev Narula ordered MCD and Delhi Jal Board to carry out the inspection in the where BCD office is situated and file a report within a week.
It also directed the civic bodies to take step so that the it doesn't happen again in rain. It said that Delhi's claim to be world class city shatters when such incidents happen.
The bench had ordered a joint inspection by the engineers not below the rank of Superintendent Engineer. During the inspection Honorary secretary of BCD will remain present.
Lawyers' body approached the High court and stated that in the intervening night of June 27 and 28 when Delhi recieved heavy rain their office on flooded with water entered in the basement. Many files damaged due to this.
Senior advocate Ramesh Gupta told BCD that it happened due to clogged drain the rain water entered into the basement of their office.
He also stated that despite many complaints, no step was taken to clean the drainage.
