New Delhi [India], October 4 : A report has been requested from Delhi's Kalkaji temple Mahant Surendra Nath, regarding the management of the Navratri event.
Justice Prathiba M. Singh has called for a status report from the Delhi Police following the death of a 17-year-old boy due to an uncovered wire. Mahant has also been asked to submit a report on the steps taken for managing the event.
Justice Singh noted the tragic incident and said, "A similar incident occurred last year as well. Every year, we have to issue directions for proper management."
The High Court noted that remuneration has not been paid to the court-appointed administrator. Currently, there is no administrator overseeing the temple.
The court was informed that the Kalkaji Mahant is the baridar. The High Court has now directed him to submit a report detailing the steps taken to manage the crowd. The Delhi Police has also been instructed to submit a report regarding the death that occurred due to the uncovered wire.
The High Court further directed the standing counsel to file a status report, with the matter set for hearing on Monday.
Redevelopment work is currently underway at the Kalkaji Temple, and an administrator had been appointed by the High Court three years ago to oversee its management.
