Delhi Police arrests man duping people in name of selling jewellery online

New Delhi [India], August 26 : A fraudster who swindled many by offering them to sell gold and silver at wholesale rates online has been arrested, said Delhi Police on Friday.
According to the police, On 21 August a complaint was received at Cyber Police Station Dwarka, wherein the complainant alleged that an unknown person contacted him through Facebook and offered him to buy gold and silver jewellery at wholesale rates.
Further, the alleged person provided details of a bank account through WhatsApp and then on his instruction the complainant paid a sum of Rs. 1,25,000/- in the bank account provided by the fraudster. After that, the alleged person switched off the mobile phone. As per the statement of the complainant, a case U/s 420 IPC was registered at Police Station Cyber, Dwarka and an investigation was taken up.
During the investigation, the details of the beneficiary bank account were obtained. The details of the WhatsApp number of the alleged person were obtained and analyzed. On the basis of technical and manual surveillance, the accused is located in Gurugram, Haryana, said the police.
After analyzing the details, a trap was laid in the area of Village Ullabash, Gurgaon, and the accused person was apprehended by the police team. The accused has been identified as Manish Lingwal, a resident of Uttam Nagar, Delhi.
On detailed interrogation, the accused person disclosed that he learned the link, advertisement, and web page design from YouTube and made a fake Facebook account in which he added the advertisement about the sale of gold and silver Jewellery at wholesale rates.
In this way, he lured innocent people to buy gold and silver items and cheated them without giving them any gold and silver Jewellery. Accordingly, the accused person was arrested, said the police.
