Delhi: Police recover illegal weapons from property dealer in Wazirabad

New Delhi [India], July 15 : The Delhi Police have recovered illegal weapons from a property dealer in Delhi's Wazirabad.
Upon receiving information that one person working as a property dealer was carrying illegal firearms, police conducted a raid in the area.
The property dealer has been identified as Junaid Khan, 33, a resident of Wazirabad Village.
The police have seized from him one revolver with five cartridges (1 cartridge of 8 mm, 1 cartridge of 7.65, and 3 cartridges of 6.35). Also, in the locked bag that he was carrying, the police officials recovered Rs 4,09,355 cash.
The police said that a case under sections of the Arms Act has been registered at the Wazirabad police station.
Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source of the weapons and the cash, the police said.
Earlier, the Delhi police special staff team arrested one person and recovered 8 semi-automatic pistols and 80 live cartridges in the North-East District.
The incident took place in April, this year, ahead of the general elections.
On the basis of a tip-off received about a criminal who may supply illegal firearms in the area of the North-East District, the information was further developed and shared with the senior officers.
The team was properly briefed and directed to nab the suspected person by taking all the precautions as the suspect was armed.The accused was arrested after a search operation by the special staff team.
