New Delhi [India], September 9 : Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Saturday said that the national capital is receiving rains due to the blessings of Lord Indra to ensure a pleasant stay for the guests who have arrived for the G20 Summit.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Delhi LG Saxena said, "To ensure a pleasant stay of the honourable guests of G20, Team Delhi's efforts also received the support and blessings of Lord Indradev. Intermittent light rain is keeping both the temperature and AQI down, making Delhi clean and well-equipped and pleasant."
Earlier today from empty roads to blocked mobile networks, top-tier security formed the backdrop of the inaugural day of the G20 meet in Delhi where leaders from across the globe gathered under one roof to attend the G20 meeting at Bharat Mandapam on Saturday.
To ensure watertight security during the gathering, the city was declared a no-fly zone and mobile signals at the venue were jammed to prevent any breaches. The security establishment left no stone unturned while also balancing the vigil with passenger convenience.
All roads leading to 'Bharat Mandapam' were barricaded, and there was no traffic movement from 8 am onwards till the end of the meeting due to VVIP movement in the New Delhi area.
A senior officer informed that the entire India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) Complex in Pragati Maidan, where Bharat Mandapam is located, was divided into 17 zones and 23 sectors for better security cover. A senior IPS rank officer, along with many other officers, is managing the security at the site.
More than 2,500 media persons from various countries are attending the G20 event. In order to keep the convenience of visitors' top priority while crossing over security checks, bar code scanners were placed.
The security protocol for the venue was in place for the International Exhibition and Convention Center or IECC, called the Bharat Mandapam — which also includes safe houses and helipads.
