Devotees throng Agartala streets on Day 2 of Maha Asthami to celebrate Durga Puja

Agartala (Tripura) [India], October 12 : Tripura's capital city came alive on Friday evening as several devotees and visitors thronged the streets on the second day of Maha Asthami to celebrate the grand festival of Durga Puja.
Being the most significant and anticipated festival in the state, crowds from across the region, showcase the vibrant cultural and religious fervour of Tripura.
Among the many Puja pandals, Sanhati Club here emerged as a major attraction.
Known for its elaborate decorations and cultural activities, the Sanhati Club pandal drew the maximum number of visitors this year.
The pandal was designed with a substantial budget and featured intricate artistic designs and themes, captivating the attention of visitors.
To engage and entertain the crowd, the Puja Committee of the Sanhati Club organized a series of cultural events and performances, making it a hub for festive celebrations.
These activities added to the charm of the pandal and played a significant role in attracting more visitors, contributing to the lively and festive atmosphere of the city.
As the celebrations continue, the people of Tripura are relishing the joy and spirit of Durga Puja, marking it as the highlight of the year.
Secretary of the Sanhati Club, Dipak Majumder said that it was a tradition at the Sanhati club to celebrate the culture and organize performances from various different states.
Speaking to ANI, Majumder said "It is a tradition here to celebrate the culture and organize performances from the different states. Every year a lot of people gather to celebrate the occasion. People have come from very far to celebrate the Durga Puja. We build new pandals every year and that is what keeps the people excited and happy. Our only message is that everyone should celebrate Puja together and stay happy."
Veteran journalist Sanit Debroy who was also present at the Puja said that the people stay very excited for the Puja which brightens the environment in the state.
"Agartala becomes a Utsav nagri during the Puja and people become very excited. We want the people to remain excited throughout the year. The police are also doing a good job of maintaining law and order. We are hoping the same continues for the next two days and Agartala remains lively," Debroy said.
Pritam Chakraborty, a visitor said that the Asthami is a big occasion on Durga Puja.
"Asthami is a big and special occasion during Durga Puja. A lot of people have gathered here today to celebrate the occasion and I have also come with my family. We are very happy," said Chakraborty.
This year, around 900 pandals have been registered for the celebrations across Agartala and its municipal areas, according to sources. Many of these are large-scale, high-budget installations, showcasing intricate designs and creative concepts.
