Different associations present cheques to Himachal CM for Disaster Relief Fund

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 11 : Delegations of different associations and unions on Monday presented cheques to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu towards 'Aapda Rahat Kosh-2023'.
Truck Operators Cooperative Society Darlaghat contributed Rs. 11 lakh, District Solan Truck Operators Transport Cooperative Society Rs. five lakh, Baghal Land-Loosers Transport Cooperative Society Rs. 1.46 lakh, Dumehar Congress Committee Rs. 73,000 and Darlaghat Ex-Servicemen Transport Society District Solan contributed Rs. 60,000 towards the Kosh, said officials.
The delegation was held by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthy. The Chief Minister thanked for the noble gesture and said that such contributions will go a long way in helping the needy in times of distress.
Meanwhile, CM Sukhu said that for those who are relocated because of the rain-related incidents the rent for their accommodation will be paid by the government.
"We have told those living in temporary shelters that till they are relocated, the govt will pay for their rented accommodation. I have given instructions on this in today's meeting and the changes with respect to the rules will also be done," the CM told the ANI.
The officials said that the state has incurred a loss of over 12,000 crore following the heavy rain in the ongoing monsoon season.
CM Sukhu had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the natural disaster in the state be declared a 'national disaster'.
According to the officials, in rain-related incidents in this year's monsoon so far, 400 people has lost their lives and over 13,000 houses have been damaged.
