DNA report reveals finger found in ice cream belongs to factory employee

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] June 28 : After a piece of a human finger was found inside an ice cream cone earlier this month, the DNA report revealed that the finger part was of the Fortune Dairy Company employee.
On June 13, a shocking incident surfaced in the Malad West area of Mumbai in which a 26-year-old doctor from Malad West alleged that he found a human finger in an ice cream cone.
According to the police, the finger found in the ice cream is that of Omkar Pote, Assistant Operator Manager working in Fortune Dairy, Pune.
DNA of the severed finger revealed that it belonged to Omkar Pote and part of the middle finger of the right hand was cut off during packing..
According to Malad Police, Omkar Pote's finger was cut on May 11, 2024. The manufacturing date in the Malad doctor's ice cream is also the same day.
Malad police has currently registered a case under sections 272, 273 and 336 of the Indian Penal Code over negligence and are conducting further investigation.
Speaking with ANI, Ravi Adane, Senior Police Inspector, Malad Police Station said, "The employee's finger was cut while removing the ice cream lid from inside the machine. While packing the ice cream, the lid had gone inside the machine. Omkar Pote tried to remove it from the moving machine."
He added, "On May 11, Fortune Dairy company had made about 350 cones on the order of Valco Company... On June 12, we had received a complaint about a finger being found in ice cream, after which we started an investigation.
Adane further said that during the investigation in the ice cream company, they found a person's finger chopped off. "We had sent his DNA sample for investigation in the case. The report matched that of that employee. We have registered a case of negligence against the company and those who are responsible for this, action will be taken against them as per law," Adane said.
