"Drinking bitter sips of ED, IT…": Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], August 16 : Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta on Wednesday in a caustic jibe against the Central government compared ‘karela’ (bitter gourd), ‘neem’ and ‘kutki’ juices to the ED, the CBI and Income Tax and said that these are making the State strong.
“The political health in Jharkhand is good as we're drinking the sip of ‘karela’, ‘kutki’ and neem. These karela, kutki, and neem are ED, CBI and Income Tax. These things are making us strong to fight...,” Banna said.
The minister also criticised the “dynastic politics” remarks in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech.
“We'll talk about how in the upcoming election of Lok Sabha Jharkhand should be well represented...PM should have chosen another place to talk politics other than Red Fort. From Red Fort, citizens of India want to listen about where the PM wants to take this country and what are the plans of the PM to make this country prosperous,” Banna said.
The state health minister’s remarks came in response to a summons issued by ED to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
On August 14, Chief Minister Hemant Soren wrote to the Enforcement Directorate asking it to withdraw its summons to him failing which he said that he will take legal action against the agency.
In his letter, Soren said that he has provided all necessary documents and information.
If the ED needs any information, it can refer to the documents, he mentioned in his letter. He has also alleged that the ED summoned him on August 14, on the instructions of its “political masters.”
Soren was replying to the second summons issued by the ED over allegations of money laundering.
