ECI deploys all women-team for April 19 polls in Lower Dibang of Arunachal

Lower Dibang (Arunachal Pradesh) [India], April 18 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has deployed all women-led teams comprising of District Collector, Superintendent of police, and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO), and all polling parties including security personnel in Lower Dibang Valley district in Arunachal Pradesh for the April 19 polls.
Notably, voting will be conducted on April 19 for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the northeastern state.

Visuals from the Upper Siang Valley district in Arunachal Pradesh also showed security personnel being deployed.
As whole of the Arunachal Pradesh has mountainous terrain polling teams traverse difficult terrain to reach their respective polling booths.

Earlier, first batch of over 40 election officials accompanied by security personnel were airlifted to four remote polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh's Kra Daadi district to conduct voting.

A day ahead of this, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Election Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sain spoke about the details of preparations for simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state and said that they are looking forward to crossing 80 per cent voter turnout.
"We hope to cross 80 per cent voter turnout in this election as the voters here are aware. 185 companies of security forces are deployed in the state. Those with a history of electoral offenses have been bound down. Export and import of liquor is banned in the state. Till now, more than Rs 16 crores worth of cash, liquor etc seized," Pawan Kumar Sain told ANI.
"No interference in the poll process by underground elements will be tolerated and stringent action will be initiated against such activities," he added.
