"Enthusiastic participation by locals and runners from across country": Indian Army on Tawang Marathon

Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh), October 2 : After the successful completion of the Tawang Marathon on Sunday, the Indian Army said that the sporting event saw enthusiastic participation by the locals and runners from all over the country.
The event was jointly organised by the Indian Army and the Arunachal Pradesh Government.
Taking to X (former Twitter), Indian Army took to Twitter and said, "Tawang Marathon, a mega sporting event was jointly organised by the Indian Army and the Arunachal Pradesh State Government today at Tawang. A first of its kind in the entire Northeast, the event saw enthusiastic participation by the locals and runners from all over the country."
The Indian Army further stated that the event also had active participation by the teams from the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and Central Armed Police Forces (BSF, CRPF, SSB, CISF, ITBP).
"The successful conduct of the Marathon has given a major boost to set up a tradition of many such sporting events annually in the border areas," Indian army said.
The event, a first of its kind in the entire Northeast saw enthusiastic participation by the locals and athletes from over 25 states across the country. According to some reputed marathoners, who participated in the event, it was, perhaps, one of the most challenging high-altitude marathons in the country.
Union Minister for Earth Sciences, Kiren Rijiju, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, MP Tapir Gao, Mama Nathung, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, ALP and Lt Gen Manish Erry, GOC Gajraj Corps were among the dignitaries attending the event.
The historic marathon coincided with the National Swachh Bharat Campaign, which saw the participants and the audience, cleaning the Stadium premises. The initiative even saw the dignitaries, including the chief minister, wielding the broom.
