"Every department is important": Giriraj Singh thanks PM Modi for showing trust in him

New Delhi [India], June 9 : After attending the tea meeting at Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi's residence, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Giriraj Singh thanked Narendra Modi and said that every department is important.
"I want to thank PM Modi for showing trust in me. There was one discussion that we had to transform India into a 'Viksit Bharat'. It is not about any particular portfolio. Every department is important," Giriraj Singh told ANI.
Giriraj Singh was born on September 8, 1952, and is known for his dynamic presence in politics. From 2008 to 2010, Singh was a Cooperative Minister in Bihar government.
Singh was a Member of the Bihar Legislative Council from 2002 to May 2014.
He was Cabinet Minister, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Resources Development, Government of Bihar from 2010 to 2013.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Singh defeated Kanhaiya Kumar, by over four lakh votes.
In 2019, following the BJP's decisive victory in the general elections, the Begusarai MP was appointed as the Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet.
In July 2021, he became Minister of Rural Development and Minister of Panchayati Raj in the Second Modi Ministry after the Cabinet reshuffle replacing Narendra Singh Tomar.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Giriraj Singh who bagged a Lok Sabha election victory from Bihar's Begusari won the elections with 81480 votes. Singh defeated Communist Party of India leader Abdesh Kumar Roy.

The Congress secured 99 seats. Samajwadi Party got 37 seats, while Trinamool Congress got 29. DMK managed to win 22 seats.
