"Executed to divert attention from Union Home Minister": Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Parliament ruckus
Dec 24, 2024
New Delhi [India], December 24 : Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Tuesday alleged that the incident near Parliament's gate on December 19 was orchestrated to divert attention from Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent remarks about BR Ambedkar in Parliament.
"It has become very clear that the drama hatched in Parliament, where it was claimed that someone pushed BJP leaders who sustained injuries and were admitted to hospital, was executed to divert attention from what the Union Home Minister said in Parliament and the anger it caused... Not just Congress, but people across the country are condemning this. Amit Shah should apologise for his actions and, on moral grounds, resign from his position. That is Congress's demand," Sachin Pilot told ANI.
Earlier today, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the only solution to the Ambedkar controversy was for Union Home Minister Amit Shah to be dismissed and to apologise to the country for his remarks on Babasaheb Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha.
Addressing a press conference, Jairam Ramesh highlighted that for the past seven days, Congress has been observing 'Ambedkar Samman' Week, during which over 100 press conferences have been held at various locations.
"This is in response to the insult directed at Ambedkar by the Home Minister on December 17. Today, meetings are being held across all districts, and a document is being prepared to be submitted to the President. The only solution to this situation is for the Home Minister to be dismissed and apologise," the Congress leader said.
Following Shah's remarks, Parliament witnessed parallel protests from both the Treasury and Opposition benches outside Parliament last week, which led to a huge scuffle between the two sides, leaving two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, injured.
Ruling BJP MPs were protesting in Parliament's premises against the Congress party for "insulting" Babasaheb Ambedkar. INDIA Bloc MPs, led by Rahul Gandhi, held a protest in Parliament and demanded Shah's resignation over his remarks on Ambedkar.
During the scuffle in Parliament's premises, BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured on their heads.
