Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 26 : On Friday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that all necessary facilities have been provided for the Agniveers under the 'Agniveer Scheme', but the opposition is deliberately spreading misinformation about the recruitment initiative.
"Under the Agniveer scheme, the government has successfully inducted young blood into the armed forces," Fadnavis told reporters.
"If the average age of our Army is higher than that of other armies around the world, we may face problems during war. Keeping this in mind, the Agnipath scheme was initiated," he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that Agniveers should be respected and should not face any issues in the future.
"Agniveers should be respected and provided with all kinds of facilities, ensuring they do not encounter any problems in the future. All these provisions are included in the scheme, but the opposition deliberately spreads confusion," he reiterated.
He also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech on Kargil Vijay Diwas, criticising the opposition for questioning the Agnipath Scheme.
"Prime Minister Modi commented on the opposition's actions, which are, in a way, jeopardising national security," Fadnavis said.
On Kargil Vijay Diwas, PM Modi paid tribute to the bravehearts who made the ultimate sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War. The Prime Minister laid a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass, Ladakh, on the occasion of the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas.
Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, commemorates the success of Operation Vijay in 1999, during which Indian forces successfully reclaimed strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir that had been infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and terrorists.
