Former cricketer Ajay Jadeja named as next Jam Saheb of Nawanagar

New Delhi [India], October 12 : Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has been declared the next Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, also known as Jamnagar the princely state in Gujarat.
The development was confirmed by Maharaja Jam Saheb of the erstwhile Nawanagar Royal family in a statement.
"Today, on Dussehra, I am equally happy, because I have found a solution to one of my problems and its success is Ajay Jadeja, who has accepted to be my heir. Ajay Jadeja taking up the responsibility of serving the people of Jamnagar is truly a boon for the people of Jamnagar," the statement read.
Ajay Jadeja has played 15 test matches for India from 1992 to 2000, scoring 576 runs at 26.18 with four half-centuries to his name and a best of 96. He has also represented India in 196 One Day Internationals (ODIs) during the period, having scored 5359 runs at 37.47 with 6 hundred and 30 fifties to his name in the format.
He has also been part of 111 First Class and 291 List A games and has scored over 8000 runs in each format with 31 hundreds and 88 fifties combined in both formats of the game.
In August this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage in Warsaw, Poland at the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar Memorial in Warsaw. This memorial honours Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, the former Maharaja of Nawanagar who is known as the 'Good Maharajah' and celebrated for his remarkable humanitarian contributions during World War II.
Born February 1, 1971 as Ajaysinhji Jadeja in jamnagar, Jadeja's father, Daulatsinhji Jadeja, was a three-time Member of Parliament from Jamnagar Lok Sabha.
His mother is a native of Alappuzha in Kerala.
Jadeja is married to Aditi Jaitly, the daughter of Jaya Jaitly and the couple have two children.
