Four prisoners escaped from Hyderabad hospital during COVID-19 treatment, confirms Telangana police

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Aug 29 : Telangana police on Friday declared that four prisoners missing from Gandhi Hospital while undergoing COVID-19 treatment have escaped from custody.
Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar informed media that on August 26, four prisoners who were tested Covid-19 positive while undergoing treatment in Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad have escaped from the prisoner ward of the hospital.
"Operation to nab the escaped prisoners named, Md. Abdul Arbaz, Md. Javeed, Mangali Somasunder, and Parvatham Narsaiah is going on. An FIR has been registered in the matter," said Kumar.
Four Charlapalli Jail prisoners, who were undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at the Gandhi Hospital here, went missing on Thursday.
These prisoners were admitted to the Gandhi Hospital after they tested positive for COVID-19. They went missing from the hospital since 3 am on Thursday, an official said.
They were undergoing treatment at the second floor of the hospital's main building.
P Venkata Ramana, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gopalpuram told ANI, "As the main building of the hospital consists of seven floors and there is a security check at every point, the prisoners cannot escape. However, they are missing. Search is underway."
