Nanded (Maharashtra) [India], November 9 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched an all-out attack against the Congress, stating that democracy has been established in Jammu and Kasmir after the abrogation of Article 370 and said terrorism has been curbed in the Union Territory which was burning in the fire of terrorism and separatism for so many decades.
Addressing a poll rally in Maharashtra's Nanded, PM Modi said, "...We love Jammu and Kashmir, they love Article 370. Since Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir, terrorism has been curbed there. Was the tricolour hoisted in Lal Chowk or not? Did people celebrate Diwali in Lal Chowk or not? Democracy has strengthened there. For the first time after 75 years of independence, Dalits got their rights. But who was troubled by this? Pakistan was the most troubled and second was Congress. Till now, Pakistan was roaming the whole world and demanding the restoration of Article 370. No one was listening to it. But now Congress has carried out Pakistan's agenda inside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly...Can we forgive such a Congress? Will you punish such a Congress or not? Will you defeat them in this election or not? Will you teach them a lesson or not?"
PM Modi attacked Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and said that the "Laal Kitab" of the Constitution which the Congress was flaunting contained "nothing".
"...In 'farziwada', Congress has broken its own record. The 'Laal Kitab' of the Constitution which the Congress party was flaunting and distributing contained 'nothing'. It was an empty book. This is nothing but a testament to Congress' disregard and hate for Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The entire country is in shock over this foolish and unfortunate political play of Congress...Congress did not give any rights to the Dalits of Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir continued to burn in the fire of terrorism for so many decades, separatism continued to flourish there. The country was not even allowed to know that two constitutions prevailed in this country for 75 years...," PM Modi said.
He also accused the Congress of pursuing divisive politics and said they could not tolerate an OBC Prime Minister in the country and cautioned the public to remain aware of its hidden agenda.
"...Congress cannot tolerate the fact that for the last 10 years, there is an OBC Prime Minister in the country and he is taking everyone along with him. Therefore, Congress is playing the game of eliminating the identity of OBCs and dividing them into different castes...Congress wants to snatch the identity of the large group of OBCs and divide it into different castes with smaller groups. You will have to stay vigilant of Congress' divisive tactics. You will have to stay aware about Congress' hidden agenda of breaking and destroying the country. 'Hum Ek Rahenge toh Safe Rahenge'...," the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi further said that there is a wave of Mahayuti and the BJP in the entire Maharashtra ahead of the polls and said the country is moving ahead with the aim of Viksit Bharat.
"Today, there is a wave in favour of Mahayuti and BJP in the entire Maharashtra. Today, the country is moving forward with the aim of 'Viksit Bharat' and the people of the country know that BJP and its allies are seriously working for it. This is the reason the public is electing BJP and the NDA govt repeatedly...," PM Modi said.
PM Modi also referred to the recently concluded Haryana assembly elections where the BJP formed the government for the third time and expected that the people of Maharashtra would follow in the steps of Haryana.
"...Today, I am doing double duty. Firstly, I am asking for help for Modi and secondly for the bright future of Maharashtra. In the Haryana elections, BJP got the highest number of votes in history. Now the people of Maharashtra are also going to repeat this history. In the last two days, wherever I went in Maharashtra, everyone had this thought in their mind that whatever was lacking in the Lok Sabha, this time it had to be fulfilled vigorously in the Vidhan Sabha. People are saying that for a developed Maharashtra, Mahayuti's government is needed. Maharashtra has suffered the wrath of the Congress and its sins for a long time," PM Modi said.
In response, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday replied to PM Modi's "empty Constitution" remarks on the party and said that "Sahab", everything is written in it.
Addressing a public gathering at Nagpur today, Kharge asked Congress candidate Nitin Raut to send a copy of the Constitution to PM Modi.
"This is the Constitution; it has everything inside it. He (PM Modi) said the pages of this red book which Rahul Gandhi reads is blank. He said it is 'kora kaagaz'...Read this, is it blank? I would request Nitin Raut to send a copy of this book to him. Sahab ismein sab likha hua hai (Sir, everything is written in it)," he said.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi also addressed a public rally in Maharashtra's Akola to boost the BJP's campaign for the assembly polls.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held on November 20. The counting of votes will take place on November 23.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42.
