New Delhi [India], September 9 : Middle East affairs expert Dr Waeil Awwad on Saturday said that the Indian government should be complimented for handling the G20 Summit and it is a clear success of India's diplomatic manoeuvre.
Speaking to ANI, Waeil Awwad said, "I think it’s a huge success. One must compliment Indian Govt for handling G20 summit as it especially came with the comprehensive draft and a comprehensive declaration which has more than 83 points and has been agreed unanimously without any objection. It’s a clear success of India’s diplomatic manoeuvre especially when there was a huge division between the north and the south countries on certain issues."
On the India-Middle East-Europe corridor announced earlier today, he said, "The corridor will be a huge success for Indian foreign policy in the Middle East and West Asian affairs and also especially when it comes to Saudi Arabia and Mediterranean Sea. It is a clear ambition of Indian outreach in the Arab world."
Reacting to the launching of the Global Biofuels Alliance by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Awwad said, "India is looking at the 21st century as an Asian century and it has been stamped in every para of the declaration made today whether it is crypto or Bio-fuels. Renewable energy issues have a huge impact on the environment especially in south and south east Asian countries. It becomes a major reason for the gas emissions due to irregularities of the factories and if the technology and the infrastructure is provided to developing world then it will be voice of south who are looking for better future of their own citizens."
"India will play major role in taking South South cooperation in the same direction from where they want to take the technology from North countries and should be dealt from them in equal footing," he said.
Earlier today Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced at the G20 Summit that consensus has been built on New Delhi Leaders' Summit Declaration. He announced its adoption.
"I have received good news. Due to the hard work of our team, consensus has been built on New Delhi G20 Leaders' Summit Declaration. My proposal is to adopt this leadership declaration. I announce to adopt this declaration. On this occasion, I congratulate my Sherpa, ministers, who worked hard for it and made it possible," PM Modi said.
The announcement of the adoption of the Declaration was welcomed with the thumping of desks.
India assumed the G20 presidency on December 1 last year and about 200 meetings related to G20 were organized in 60 cities across the country. The 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi will be a culmination of all the G20 processes and meetings held throughout the year among ministers, senior officials, and civil societies.
