Patna (Bihar) [India], September 30 : Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday took potshots at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Yadav over his remarks on the poem 'Thakur ka Kuan', which was recited by RJD MP Manoj Jha in the Rajya Sabha last week.
"The 'Ghamandiya' alliance is merely doing a 'damage control' now for the atmosphere it created opposing the Sanatana religion and remaining tight-lipped on this. In Bihar too, Lalu Ji is trying to increase tension among castes so that Santana Dharma ends and they can do their caste-based politics", Giriraj Singh said.
"But do not forget. Sanatana is the history of this country. Be it Kashi Vishwanath, Kedarnath, or Mahakal, everywhere reconstruction work is going on... RJD, JDU and Congress are trying to end Sanatana..." he added.
Earlier on Thursday, RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav backed Manoj Jha's 'Thakurs' poem recited in the Upper House saying that the latter had said the right thing.
"Manoj Jhaji is a scholar. He has said the right thing. He did not say anything against Thakurs", the RJD Chief said.
The poem titled 'Thakur ka Kuan', recited by Manoj Jha during a debate on the Women's Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha last week, received brickbats from several leaders.
The poem was recited by Jha amid his demand to take into account the OBCs in the Women's Reservation Bill.
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Chief Chirag Paswan said, "This is completely unfair. Such statements are creating dissatisfaction in society. It hurts the sentiments of people and the manner in which the top leadership is tight-lipped on the statement gives tacit support to this. We strongly condemn this".
Meanwhile, JDU President Lalan Singh backed Jha's remark stating, "The speech given by Manoj Jhaji is a testament in itself that it is not targeted at any particular caste. The BJP creates tension in society and attracts votes by instigating sentiments".
