Mau (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 21 : As black ink was hurled at BJP’s OBC candidate for Ghosi assembly bypoll Dara Singh Chauhan on Sunday, the leader has alleged that the Opposition hatched the conspiracy as they are ‘scared’ of losing the September 5th election.
“I went to participate in a program where someone threw ink on me. This clearly shows that they are scared of losing the elections. This conspiracy has been hatched by the Opposition (Samajwadi Party) due to the increasing popularity of PM Modi and CM Yogi. We have informed the police. They are investigating. Strict action will be taken against the accused involved,” Dara Singh said while talking to ANI.
He further said that the people of the assembly will give a befitting reply to the incident by casting thier votes in favour of the BJP.
Black ink was thrown at Dara Singh Chauhan in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district on Sunday during a rally.
The attack, which happened seconds after he was welcomed in the Adri Panchayat (Adri Chatti) area of Ghosi with a garland by his supporters, caught Chauhan off guard as the attacker smeared his face with black ink before fleeing.
Chauhan despite winning from the Ghosi seat subsequently rejoined the BJP last month.
An OBC leader from eastern UP, he was elected from the Ghosi seat in Mau district on the SP’s poll symbol.
Chauhan was a cabinet minister in the previous Yogi Adityanath government but had resigned ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections and joined the SP.
Chauhan started his political career with the BSP and later joined the SP. He was elected to Rajya Sabha for two terms in 1996 and 2000 and as per the website of Rajya Sabha, he was elected as an SP candidate and was also the party’s national executive member.
