"Govt committed to promoting sports": Rajasthan CM on selection of 7 players in Indian Lacrosse team

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], June 28 : Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday expressed happiness over the selection of seven players from the state in the Indian Lacrosse team and asserted that the government is committed to the promotion of sports culture.
Taking to his official X handle, Bhajanlal Sharma posted, "Rajasthan will play, Rajasthan will win! The dreams of girls of tribal society got a new flight in the field of sports."
Speaking about the government's dedication towards tribal welfare, Sharma said, "Seven players have been selected from the tribal areas of Udaipur (six from Udaipur, one from Banswara) in the Indian Lacrosse team. These include four daughters from the tribal community and three from other communities. (The three daughters belong to Dangi, Meghwal and Gurjar communities respectively.)"
He added, "Our government is fully committed to the continued promotion of sports culture in the state."
Out of the total 12 players of the Indian Lacrosse team, seven are from Rajasthan, which is a matter of pride for the entire state, Sharma said.
Sharma further said, "These players from Rajasthan have been selected in the Indian team on the basis of their excellent performance in the First National Lacrosse Championship, where Rajasthan won the gold medal."
The Chief Minister further said that these girls of Rajasthan are receiving training in Agra for international competition. Sharma informed these players are set to travel to Samarkand, Uzbekistan for the Lacrosse Asian Championship.
The Chief Minister also informed about male lacrosse players and said, "15 male lacrosse players are also being trained who are staying in the sports hostel."
Informing about the financial aid, Sharma said, "Financial assistance has been provided by Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML) for the training of these players. The players were provided with housing facility and financial aid in the tribal sports hostel, which facilitated their entry in the Asian Games."
Talking about the government's goals, Sharma said, "The state government aims to establish two Tribal Sports Hostels/Academies for this sport which is being included in the upcoming Olympics: one for boys and one for girls."
