Green Model polling station established in Tripura's Unakoti

Agartala (Tripura) [India], April 25 : A unique initiative has been undertaken by the poll conducting authorities in Tripura as a model polling station was set up in Kailashahar's Netaji Vidyapith in the Unakoti district of Tripura that advocates for a greener and sustainable tomorrow.
"A step towards a sustainable election. A Green Model Polling Station has been set up in Kailashahar, Unakoti District, Tripura. This initiative aims to promote environmental consciousness and encourage the adoption of eco-friendly practices," a post on the official social media handle of Chief Electoral Officer Tripura stated praising the initiative.
According to official sources, the initiative was undertaken in collaboration with locals who have been working for the protection of natural resources and large-scale plantations in the area.
The photos shared by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer comprise different sorts of decorations that spread the message of greenery. There are earthen pots kept in the entrances that speak of the importance of water conservation. Different kinds of plants have been displayed with messages on conservation scribbled on them.
The polling station has been named as Green Model Polling Station. Sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said that it was the first-of-its-kind model polling station promoting sustainability and the need for protection of the environment in these elections.
It is also worth noting here that the vocal campaign for East Tripura comes to an end on Wednesday. The elections for the high-profile seat are slated to take place on April 26.
The first phase of Lok Sabha polls took place on April 19 and the remaining 6 phases of the elections will continue on different dates till June 1 to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha. The results will be announced on June 4.
