Gujarat: Ahmedabad Police to get high-tech Command and Control Centre with AI Integration

Oct 02, 2024

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 2 : To enhance citizen safety in Gujarat, the Ahmedabad Police has established a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre utilizing cutting-edge technologies.
This facility will bolster public safety and significantly improve police capabilities. A unique feature of the centre is that each officer will have three monitors, enabling them to monitor three locations simultaneously and enhance operational efficiency.

One of the most interesting aspects is that the Ahmedabad Police will now also use Artificial Intelligence. With this new technology, the police will be able to monitor social media to quickly identify suspects. Additionally, AI will facilitate the immediate monitoring of suspicious activities, further improving crime control.
"If a criminal commits a crime and flees in a vehicle, the incident may be captured on CCTV, but the license plate might not always be clearly visible. For this, video analytics will be employed to check the vehicle's number using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Moreover, if a wanted criminal is spotted somewhere in the city, the AI system can assist in tracking them down. In short, we have established a very modern control room in our new office," says GS Malik, Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad Police.

This control room can accommodate around 1,000 officers at the same time. Here, CCTV monitoring will be even more efficient, allowing for close observation of criminal activities during investigations.
Additionally, the Artificial Intelligence Development Program installed here will make the work of the officers easier and more convenient. The high-tech Command and Control Centre will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on October 3. Once operational, it will strengthen city security and significantly boost police capacity.
