Gujarat ATS seizes MD Drugs worth at Rs 1,814 crore from factory in Bhopal

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], October 6 : Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) have confiscated drugs and raw materials valued at Rs 1,814 crore from a factory in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and apprehended two accused, said an official of Gujarat ATS.
The accused have been identified as Amit Chaturvedi, a resident of Bhopal and Sanyal Bane, a resident of Nashik.
During the search operation, 907 kg MD (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) worth Rs 1,814 crore were seized in both liquid and solid form.
ATS Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Sunil Joshi said that it is the biggest drug factory that have been busted by the Gujarat ATS.
"Gujarat ATS has been working on the No Drug policy of the government. Action is being taken against international drug smugglers and those involved in the production of MD and other synthetic drugs in the country. Our officer had received information that a person, Amit Chaturvedi resident of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and another person Sanyal Bane resident of Nashik Maharashtra have made a sophisticated drug factory in Bhopal and have been producing MD in it...When it was clear that this information was correct, a team was formed along with NCB operations. The factory was identified in Bhopal...Both the accused were apprehended from the factory and during the search 907 kg MD in both liquid and solid form were seized. Its value is approximately Rs 1814 crore in the international market...This is the biggest lab that we have busted..."
Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi applauded the authorities for busting the major drug syndicate in order to safeguard the health and security of society.
